Project snapshot
Category: Balustrades · Location: Dubai Hills · Property type: Four-bedroom villa · Typical duration: 3–4 weeks
The challenge
- Developer handover balustrade was compliant but visually heavy
- Client wants an uninterrupted sightline up the stair
- Stair substrate had to be opened up to confirm what fixings would land in
- Family living in the property throughout
FixUp Fab solution
- 13.52mm laminated toughened glass so a broken pane stays in the opening
- Continuous base channel rather than spigots for a cleaner line
- Substrate checked and made good before the channel was set
- Slim capping rail to protect the exposed top edge
- Panels sized to clear the stairwell without a crane
Scope of work
Results
- An open sightline up the stair with no vertical posts breaking it
- A barrier that stays standing if a pane is ever broken
- Fixings landing in verified structure rather than screed
- Panels delivered at sizes the stairwell could physically take
